What we did today is:
4 Gallons of Water
10 pounds of brown sugar
1 bottle of molasses
1/2 a bag of turbo yeast.
Boiled 2 gallons of water and added all 10 pounds of brown sugar. Once all sugar is dissolved, add to a 5 gallon carboy or your chosen fermentation vessel followed by the rest of the water to fill carboy. Bloom half bag of yeast in a few cups of warm water and add to carboy. Place fruit tap on carboy and set in a dark corner until fermentation is complete. (estimated time 1-2 weeks)
This is the first time using brown sugar OR well water. I am hoping to develop a rum-like flavor.

Boom Boom
What is boom boom? It is nothing more than Sugar, Water, and Yeast creating alcohol. What we did today is:
4 Gallons of Water
10 pounds of sugar
1/2 a bag of turbo yeast.
Boiled 2 gallons of water and added all 10 pounds of white sugar.
We have made this before, but this time the only x factor is the water. Normally we use city water, but this time we have used the well water at our new house. Will it effect the boom boom's taste negatively? I guess we will all know in a couple of weeks.

Blueberry Cordial Update
Just a quick update. I was unable to find any 100% blueberry juice anywhere in the local area. I did, however, get struck with a wonderful idea this afternoon. Blueberry syrup. I know, it seems a bit thick, but I mixed a bottle of blueberry syrup with an equal amount of water and it tasted pretty damn good. So I cut the blueberry with the watered down syrup. I have to say it now tastes perfect. I have already bottled 2 small bottles for a holiday gift for friends, but I think I may keep the rest for myself because I am feeling greedy. :)

Cranberry Cordial
I made what technically is a cordial from Cranberries.
Roughly 12 ounces of fresh cranberries
1 cup white granulated sugar
Vodka
I halved all of the cranberries and added them to a quart size mason jar. I added 1 cup of white granulated sugar and filled the jar with vodka. Shake vigorously to devolve all sugar. I may have to add a weight to keep the cranberries submerged because they are wanting to float enough that many are being pushed out of the vodka.
I say this is Technically a cordial because I added sugar. I just figured it could play double duty as yummy drink and medicine. Cranberries are great for the Urinary tract and many doctors recommend drinking cranberry juice when you have a urinary tract infection.

Holiday Apple Cordial
My brother requested a gallon of apple cordial for a Christmas gift. I am more than happy to do this for him.
15 Johnathon Apples
2 cups white granulated sugar
2 TBSP mulling spices
1.75 ML bottle of vodka
I cut and cored 15 apples and put them into a 1 gallon milk jug with the sugar and spice and vodka. I told him that it will not be quite ready by New years, but he could possibly get into to it. I think it would taste best if it sat until the end of January at the very least.

Cherry Grape Cordial
This is something I threw together August 8 because the cherries and Green grapes that I had left over from making previous cordials was starting to look a little dark in color. I filled 3/4 a Prego Jar with Cherries (crushed with seeds) and the juice that had leaked to the bottom of the bowl. I also crushed the green grapes for another 1/4 of the jar.
I am not sure how this is going to work out but I will let you know in about 3-6 months!

Watermelon Cordial
July 23Watermelon Cordial is something that I have been wanting to try but thought it would be too much work to prep the watermelon. Well, my son Talon wanted watermelon so I decided to make a couple jars sense I was going through the trouble anyway. All I did was cube the watermelon and stuffed the quart jar full then added vodka. I was afraid to add sugar because it was a very sweet watermelon and I didn't want it to be too sweet. Plus, I can always add sugar later.
